*sigh*

Ah, who needs lace to go with pearls? I am much more of this kind of gal:

Snaked Leather & Pearls! oh Yeah! **WANT!** They're not too costly too...just too costly for this chica. But I swear I'm so inspired by this piece, I could design a whole wardrobe just from looking at it!
If you would like to see more of jewelry akin to this (although not more than a picture of this one...it sold out!) visit: http://www.acb-shop.com

Morgan and Destiny

Beautiful, fun, whimsical, cute...well written. There isn't enough for me to say about this. I think that this is my new favorite short films. It's worth the 6 minutes on the second one, but you really should watch it without distractions. You need to absorb the words and story.
Brilliant I tell you. If I knew anything about making films, I would make mine something like this.
Enjoy these both.

Quotes to Ponder

I have been building up a list of quotations. These help me out when I'm down, a little muddled, or completely lost in art, life, everything. Enjoy.

"Far away in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow where they lead."
Louisa May Alcott

"No longer forward nor behind
I look in hope and fear;
But grateful take the good I find,
The best of now and here."
John G. Whittier

"Go back a little to leap further."
John Clarke

"Normal is not something to aspire to, it's something to get away from."
Jodie Foster

"When I work, I work very fast, but preparing to work can take any length of time."
Cy Twombly

"Our society is run by insane people for insane objectives. I think we're being run by maniacs for maniacal ends and I think I'm liable to be put away as insane for expressing that. That's what's insane about it."
John Lennon

"Reason is powerless in the expression of Love."
Rumi

"Don't pay any attention to what they write about you. Just measure it in inches."
Andy Warhol

"A musician must make music, an artist must paint, a poet must write, if he is to be at peace with himself. What a man can be, he must be."
Abraham Maslo

"Only when he no longer knows what he is doing does the painter do good things."
Edgar Degas

"I am an artist… I am here to live out loud."
Emile Zola

"A line is a dot that went for a walk."
Paul Klee

“Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing.”
Helen Keller

Happy Monday!

I'm no fan of Donnie & Marie but...

as the song goes...
"I'm a little bit country
And I'm a little bit rock 'n roll
I'm a little bit of Memphis and Nashville
With a little bit of Motown in my soul
I don't know if it's good or bad
But I know I love it so
I'm a little bit country
And I'm a little bit rock 'n roll"

and so I let it inspire my dress today with one of my favorite
scarfs & pins juxtaposed with my distressed jeans & classic
black hi-top cons.
 Check it here:

And of course, a little bit of what I call Rodeo
jewelry.
The first one my mom bought me at the first rodeo I worked
 a stand at:

And this second one is one my youngest brother bought me
years ago in some ol' country store.

This inspired ensemble is brought to you by my boredom
and too much time. Also, my recent stint of listening to my
 old CD's.

Ohh, I almost forgot...this perfectly goes with how I feel today:

Inspired. Wanted. Needed? Craved!

So, I've been kinda down as of late. There are just SO many things that I love and want to do...things that inspire, want, crave...and ultimately don't need. And as this is a time of financial burden the need for restraint is crucial. But I still get the magazines and catalogs and I lust.
To make me feel more as if I am getting a dose of those things I crave, I have decided to start making a collection of things that I love and want. Things that inspire perhaps a future purchase, a cheaper option, or even sparks a little inventive building of my own.
So, here I start this little inspiring wall of longing.
First off are the things that I look at every time the catalogs come from my local chain stores that I like to walk through, Pier One and Crate and Barrel:

And then there are those things that I think I will never be able to afford, but could never bring myself to pay that much for even if I did. They should change the name of Luxe Magazine to Lust Magazine.

I Could Do This

I have to say, I may have not loved living there but Redding does have a few great ideas yet! I found by way of an artists call for the 2nd Saturday Art Hop in Redding, and also the website for this gallery & organizer: http://www.hawkmanstudios.com
Now the cool thing that they do, that I KNOW I could do are these "Arty Parties" for kids. I have a few ideas on how to expand on this. This seems right up my alley of things I would/could love to do as a business here in Sacramento. My dad is already into the idea.
In the mean time, check out the link below and if you live in Redding and have children, consider the option!!

And please, if you have any other ideas to contribute on this, let me know! I'm always open to suggestions!

Need to get that Creative Genius going?

we are all gorgeous creative geniuses.

So get used to the idea of it, with the friendly and soothing help of Andrea of ABC Creativity.

Read her blog & get inspired, OR even better, sign up for her free workshop.

It's easy to do and we could all use the extra time for ourselves, couldn't we? And who better in our lives to pump up, but our own Creative Genius??!
Whether creative is something you do all the time, or just something you're trying to tap into for the first time, this could be one of many ways in which you could get in touch with that part of you that's waiting to be discovered (more?).

I have only done the first exercise, but so far, so good! It will be good to see what else I can get from myself (and others) from another class to work on me. Shannon's class and blog were a great deal of my sanity and finding of myself as of late. It's good to have another contributor to my mental stability.

Well, I hope that this looks good to some of you others out there and you are able to participate! I mean c'mon! It's for your betterment AND it's FREE. How often does this opportunity come along?
